Liberal Democrat councillors and supporters celebrate after gaining 3 seats

Despite a strong swing to the Conservatives nationally in the General Election, voters across Mole Valley gave a very different verdict on the Tory administration here in Thursday's District Council elections.
-
Voters in Fetcham West elected local restaurant owner Raj Haque (Lib Dem) to replace the previous Conservative leader Tim Hall;
-
In Bookham South, Liberal Democrat Phil Harris won the seat so that the ward now has three LibDem councillors;
-
In Brockham, Betchworth & Buckland, Paul Potter won another seat from the Tories; these villages also have all LIberal Democrat councillors;
-
In Leatherhead North, Dave Howarth won a close contest with the Conservatives to replace the sitting Independent councillor;
-
In Ashtead, the local Independents won two seats from the Conservatives;
-
Only in Capel, Leigh and Newdigate, did the Conservatives win a seat, displacing the hard-working local Councillor Iain Murdoch.
After these results the new Council has the following membership:
