Residents are rightly incensed about the imposition of evening parking charges in the Dorking Halls and Pippbrook car parks. It is one thing to make a levy on ticket prices for expensive shows at Dorking Halls, but quite another to charge those who use the Sports Centre several times a week. It is also unfair to levy a parking charge on those who visit their doctor, collect a prescription from the Medwyn Medical Centre, support amateur Theatre at the Green Room - or attend youth events at the St John Ambulance headquarters.
Did you know that:
-Three of the eight members of the Conservative Executive live in Ashtead?
Your Liberal Democrat Councillors have fought against evening charges at every stage including voting against the annual budget and raising a motion in April for the charges to be rescinded - proposed by Holmwoods Liberal Democrat Councillor Michael Howard.
The Dorking Advertiser has launched a petition on this issue which has gained the remarkable total of 3,147 signatures. Councillor Howard accompanied their Content Editor Ursula Hudson in presenting the petition to the Council Executive. The fight goes on!
