Liberal Democrat Councillors have long argued that the quality and frequency of grass cutting in Mole Valley is a disgrace and must be improved. Mole Valley is one of only two Surrey Districts that rely on Surrey County Council to do this work - most Districts now run it locally and make a much better job of it. The County Council's only concern is to ensure that grass doesn't grow too high to impair road safety. So currently neither Surrey nor Mole Valley is prepared to accept responsibility for the appearance of our verges, roundabouts and grassed areas. Hence the untidy appearance of often litter-strewn verges.
The Liberal Democrats are urging Mole Valley Council to address this situation as a matter of urgency. They are demanding that the Council considers taking responsibility itself as so many other Districts have done.
