Surrey Police Authority has been forced by the Government to reduce its Council Tax and issue new bills. The effect: the Police will return £1.6 million to Surrey residents but incur additional costs of £1.2 million in sending out the revised bills.
Liberal Democrat County Councillor Hazel Watson said, "This is a ridiculous waste of money which has resulted in 48 key operational front line police posts being cut."
