Alice Humphreys supports Vince Cable's plan to remove millions of low-paid workers from Income Tax
Parliamentary Candidate Alice Humphreys has welcomed the Liberal Democrats' latest policy on income tax. The Liberal Democrats would raise the basic personal allowance from £6475 to £10,000, thus removing four million people from income tax altogether and benefiting many more on low and middle incomes. This would be paid for by closing loopholes used by big businesses and the very wealthy to avoid paying tax.
In launching the new policy Liberal Democrat leader, Nick Clegg, said "Our plans would not add a penny to the overall tax burden but would spread that burden more fairly."
