Paul Kennedy - Mole Valley District Council Candidate Paul K 2021

Cllr Paul Kennedy is a former barrister, accountant and actuary, with a degree in science and mathematics from Cambridge University and a postgraduate qualification in law from City University. He has over 30 years professional experience working in both private and public sectors, including Prudential, HM Treasury, the Bar, a major accountancy firm and the national regulators for financial services and financial reporting.

Since his election in 2016 to represent Fetcham West ward on Mole Valley District Council, Paul has worked closely with fellow district councillor Raj Haque and the Fetcham Residents Association. Together they have led a number of campaigns including the successful campaign to save Fetcham's Molebridge surgery from closure in 2019, and more recently Paul spoke in favour of the Greenhouse project for a new scout hut and community centre at Cock Lane Recreation Ground, which resulted in a unanimous vote in favour by the Council's Development Management Committee. Paul is a trustee of the Fetcham United Charities and a regular on the Fetcham Residents Association's monthly litter picks.

Paul was the Liberal Democrat candidate for Mole Valley in the 2015, 2017 and 2019 general elections, increasing the Liberal Democrat vote from 14% to 34%. In normal times, Paul sings with the Bookham Choral Society and is a Vice-President of Leatherhead Football Club. He is a cautious cyclist and plays badminton at the Leatherhead Leisure Centre, where he is part of the Leatherhead No-Strings squad in the East Surrey Badminton League.
