Okewood: Steven Round

Stephen Round ()Aged 59, Steven Round is a retired Director and Company Chief Executive, who has worked both in the UK and abroad. Originally from the Black Country, he has lived in the Surrey Hills for 28 years with his wife and their three sons.

Steven's interest in politics began when studying Business Studies at college. He joined the SDP at its inception, and was a founding member of the Liberal Democrats. Whilst living in Brentford & Isleworth he was Party Secretary and a local council candidate.

After moving to Mole Valley, he joined the local Liberal Democrat party. He played an important role in 199? when , as election agent for the District Elections, he helped the Liberal Democrats gain control of the Council for the first time.

Steven has enjoyed a fulfilling and interesting career, working for Beecham Products Overseas and Guinness plc. With an interest in Management turnaround, his later roles include Marketing & Property Director for Superdrug, divisional CEO for MFI France and MFI UK Retail, and Managing Director of locally based firm Robert Dyas. Alongside consulting projects, Steven's last corporate role was as interim CEO of Co-Operative Legal Services, heading up a team of circa 500 lawyers and paralegals across most areas of consumer law.

In Holmbury St Mary he has been in recent years: Chairman of both the Bonfire Society and Children's Playgroup, and Churchwarden for St Mary's. He was Liberal Democrat candidate for Okewood Ward in 2015. Given his background, he is particularly interested in Planning and Council Finance.
