Infrastructure improvements to support new housing
A big increase in new housing will inevitably increase the pressure on the local infrastructure to provide the necessary facilities and services.
Where larger development sites have been allocated, many have specific requirements to provide facilities for the community, such as:
- Community facilities, including space for early years' education
- Public open space
- Additional car parking near railway stations
- Health hubs and primary healthcare facilities
- Upgraded libraries
Moreover a supporting Infrastructure Delivery Plan has been published which also identifies other projects which will be eligible for funding from a variety of sources, including receipts from the Community Infrastructure Levy. The schemes address identified needs in Transport, Education, Health, Community facilities, Open Spaces and Green Infrastructure, Emergency Services, Utilities, Flood Defence, Waste & Recycling, Burial facilities and Communications.
