Paul Kennedy is a Mole Valley district councillor and is a former barrister, accountant and actuary. He has 30 years' professional experience working in both the private and public sectors.

Paul has a strong background in criminal and public law, and financial management and scrutiny. For ten years he provided strategic oversight and direction to several national public interest organisations, before becoming a district councillor in 2016. Paul's professional and local government experience, and his independence from both the Government and the police, makes him the best person to represent the people of Surrey.

Paul says: "PCCs concentrate a lot of power in one individual, and when things go wrong this can seriously undermine the Chief Constable and the force. But we're stuck with PCCs as long as the Conservatives are in power."

"That's why I'm offering a professional, ambitious, community-based alternative to the Conservatives' centralised approach to policing and crime. I will focus on what actually works to cut crime like more partnership working, restorative justice, and a public health approach to tackling drug crime."
