A24 Average Speed Cameras

Residents and Lib Dem Councillors welcome the imminent installation of average speed cameras on the A24 between Spook Hill and Beare Green roundabouts.
Surrey County Cllr Stephen Cooksey has confirmed the plan to install average speed cameras at locations south of North Holmwood roundabout, before and after Mill Road and north of Beare Green roundabout is scheduled to go ahead before the end of the financial year (5th April 2025).
A letter to residents and businesses near the camera sites explains that timing is dependent on preparatory work on the trees and footway being completed first and electric cabling being installed.
The bright yellow cameras and new signage at entry and exit to this stretch of road are designed to encourage drivers to keep within the 50 mph speed limit. Locals have complained about excessive speeds for many years.
Cllr Claire Malcomson welcomed the scheme and said “This measure can’t come a moment too soon; there have been frequent accidents and collisions here for many years and we are calling for the scheme to go live at the earliest opportunity, before anyone else is hurt.”
