Banking in Leatherhead
With the news that the last bank in Leatherhead is to close in July, Lib Dem Councillors have met with the Chamber of Commerce and Officers at MVDC to move forward with an application for a banking hub in Leatherhead, to serve the whole of the North of the District.
Banking hubs are a shared banking space on the high street, with dedicated rooms where customers can see community bankers from their own bank, pay in cheques and pay bills. The community bankers work on rotation so one bank will always be represented on a set day of the week. Banking Hubs are being opened across the country.
Councillor Keira Vyvyan-Robinson said, "Having access to banking facilities, and not just cash, is a vital resource for so many of our residents and businesses. Having campaigned against banking closures for some time, I am delighted that the Chamber of Commerce is willing to support our bid for a Banking Hub, and hope that our local MPs and Residents' Associations across the North of the District will also voice their support."
