Lib Dem Parliamentary Candidate Helen Maguire is calling on Surrey County Council to conduct a survey of residents local to Barnett Wood Lane, after receiving a number of approaches, expressing their concern about traffic calming measures on the road. Barnett Wood Lane, is currently ‘controlled‘ by the dreaded Barnett Wood ‘humps’ - elevated ramps which cause cars to slow down and accelerate away. Such driving patterns in a residential area are causing concern to local residents who say they have to put up with the noise of cars braking and revving up to drive away. Helen said, “Given the number of new traffic calming ideas that have been introduced into the UK now would be a good time for Surrey County Council to review how it is managing Barnett Wood Lane. A survey could well lead to Surrey introducing new and more sensitive ways of traffic calming onto this
important local artery”.

Lib Dem campaigner, Jolanta Waugh, on location. She wants Conservative-led Surrey County Council to consider new ideas for Ashtead’s noisy road humps.
