Energy rebate - further delay for Park Home residents
On the 25th of January, a Government minister admitted yet another delay for Park Home residents (and other households without a direct electricity contract) to receive the £400 energy rebate.
They now expect the on-line Portal to go live on February 27th and first payments to reach residents "around the end of March".
Lib Dem Councillor David Preedy says: "It is beyond belief that yet again the Government has failed to meet its commitments on delivering this much-needed support. The issue was identified in June last year. Eventually we were told it would be provided automatically by the end of last year. Then we were told there would be an on-line application process opening in January. Now we are told it will be the end of February before residents can start the application process."
"We've already had two cold spells this Winter and now we hear that these payments won't be received until well into the Spring. I am appalled that the Government has shown how little it cares for the welfare of a group of residents who are badly affected by the cost-of-living crisis".
