Mike Hebberd

Mike Hebberd has been a Mole Valley resident for more than 16 years and loves living in this beautiful area. He works in the Civil Service and has a policing and prison service background. Mike is very community-minded with experience as a local school governor. He is active in fund-raising for several charities, including MIND and likes to "roll up his sleeves" for neighbourhood jobs such as litter picking.

For a while now, Mike has wanted to direct his energy and people skills to help Mole Valley residents by serving as a District Councillor. Starting as a Conservative Candidate in the local elections last year, he soon realised that his values matched the Liberal Democrats much more closely. Having joined them, he is now the Lib Dem Candidate for Brockham, Betchworth and Buckland.

As a school governor, Mike has developed ideas and ambitions for supporting young people in the villages by extending youth services to the rural areas. He would also support extending access to community 'on-demand' bus services to teens in areas where public transport is poor. His work with MIND has made Mike very aware of the problems of mental health which fit well with Lib Dem principles to end the associated stigma and he would campaign at local or national level to improve medical and social care for mental health. He also wants to see rural business thrive and will work to ensure that the support which is available in district's towns is publicised and accessible to countryside enterprises too.
