Way cleared for fish & chip van to return to Box Hill
After requests from local Lib Dem Councillors Paula Keay and Paul Potter, Mole Valley Council has brought forward the timetable to implement the new road designations for street trading. It has also confirmed that the Licensing Committee can make the decision without needing to wait for a subsequent meeting of the full Council.
At its meeting on 30th August the Committee resolved to change the designations so that all streets in Mole Valley will be designated as “Consent Streets”. This changes the status of "Prohibited Streets" in the District where the Council had not been permitted to issue trading licences; this included the whole of Boxhill Road.
Whilst there is a statutory delay to allow for public notification of the changes, the new designation will take effect from 5th October and traders can submit applications immediately.
Councillor Paul Potter says “We hope that the new timetable makes it attractive for the Fish & Chip trader to apply to resume trading at Box Hill as soon as it becomes permissible. Paula and I would like to thank all residents who replied to the consultation. Officers told us that the level of response was much higher than normal for a Licensing issue.”
