Pause to Mole Valley Local Plan examination extended
The Inspector examining the new Mole Valley Local Plan has agreed to the Council's request to extend the pause in the examination. The pause was agreed following Government announcements of intended policy changes last year; as a result the Lib Dem administraiton has asked for a modification to the plan removing all the proposed development sites in the Green Belt.
Margaret Cooksey, Lib Dem Cabinet Member for Planning said:
“This news is most welcome. The Inspector has again recognised that the Government's delays in the adopting a revised National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) - which may include important changes for Mole Valley’s draft Local Plan – has created ongoing uncertainty for Mole Valley.
“In the Inspector's most recent response, she emphasised that she does not want the examination of our draft Local Plan to become ‘unduly protracted’. We could not agree more, and we urge the decision-makers in government to publish the new NPPF quickly to clarify the impact potential changes could have on our Plan.
“Whilst we would of course rather not delay further, we know that this is the right thing to do to get the right plan.”
