Monica Weller has lived in Great Bookham for 33 years and is a well-known investigative journalist, public speaker and photographer. She turned to writing after working as a senior manager for a local charity for over 10 years. Monica is best known for ghost writing the best seller RUTH ELLIS MY SISTER'S SECRET LIFE and continues to give presentations locally and nationally about Ruth Ellis, the last woman hanged in the UK.

She is hardworking, has a strong social conscience, believes in fairness and honesty, and will be an effective voice for Bookham North.

  • Monica strongly opposes inappropriate Green Belt development and will support Mole Valley's future Local Plan to reflect the wishes of the community.
  • She supports the local economy, will work to inject new life into Bookham's village shops and will campaign to promote the green benefits of shopping locally.
  • Monica endorses the Lib Dem's climate change strategy, and amongst other things, will encourage further installation of electric charging points in car parks locally.
  • With Covid-19 there has been a surge in cycling and walking and she will back safer cycling initiatives to improve the environment and active travel for everyone.

Monica is a Fellow of The Royal Photographic Society (RPS), a national photographic judge, and was appointed President of Bookham Camera Club in recognition of her contribution to the club, most notably for mentoring members for RPS Distinctions. In normal times she attends pilates classes and enjoys walking.
