New crossing will improve road safety on Chalkpit lane.

The proposed zebra crossing on Chalkpit Lane near Triangle Stores was approved almost unanimously during the public consultation that took place in December and January.

The necessary Traffic Regulation Order to install the zebra crossing is now being prepared and it is hoped that the crossing will be installed over the summer.

The successful campaign involved Liberal Democrat County Councillor Hazel Watson, St Martins and The Ashcombe Schools, and Dorking Safer Streets, all supported by Dorking and Horley MP Chris Coghlan.

The zebra crossing will improve road safety on the walking route from North Dorking and Pixham to St Martins School and from South West Dorking and Westcott to The Ashcombe School.

Hazel Watson said, “This is brilliant news, being delivered by the County Council team responsible for Road Safety Outside Schools and School Active Travel.”
