Josephina Brinker for North Leatherhead
Josie Brinker has lived with her family in North Leatherhead for the past 10 years. It's a place she's proud to call home.
As a former healthcare professional, she has a particular interest in the quality of local health services. She is a serving member of the Patient Participation Group (PPG) at the Ashlea Medical Practice, and she is determined that Leatherhead Community Hospital receives the investment it needs.
Josie admits to being a 'serial' volunteer for charities both locally and further afield. She sits on the Governance Board of the Leatherhead Community Hub, an exciting new project on the edge of the Kingston Road Rec which will provide a base for a range of community groups.
She also volunteers for the children's charity The Rainbow Trust, and for the medical humanitarian aid organisation, Medecins Sans Frontiere.
Above all though, Josie wants to stand up for the people of North Leatherhead. She wants to listen to what they feel they need in the heart of the community, as well as in the town centre. She thinks that some areas have been bypassed for too long and it's time for renewal.
Josie knows there's a desperate need to improve the supply of homes which are affordable to buy, or homes which our young people can afford to rent. For many years Conservative policies have tied the hands of local councils making it difficult to build for families priced out by developers. Voting for Josie will help us change that.
Josie firmly believes that the Covid pandemic has underlined the importance of protecting our green spaces. She's proud that it's the Lib Dems who have cut housing targets in Leatherhead, and protected areas vital to people's well-being such as the allotments off Barnett Wood Lane. All she asks for is your continued support.
