Monica Weller

Monica Weller has lived in Great Bookham for 34 years, is an investigative journalist, public speaker and photographer who turned to writing after working as a senior manager for a local charity. Monica is best known for ghost writing RUTH ELLIS MY SISTER'S SECRET LIFE about the last woman hanged in the UK.

Monica fiercely opposes inappropriate Green Belt development, will support a Local Plan fit for purpose and will argue for local people when the Plan is examined by the Inspector.

She is hardworking, has a strong social conscience and will be an effective voice for Bookham North.

Flying the flag on social media for the Shop Local campaign and the local economy, she will work to inject new life into Bookham's shopping centre while promoting the green benefits of shopping locally and will support measures for remodelling a greener shopping centre in the transition to a zero-carbon economy.

She endorses the Active Travel campaign for safer cycling and walking. With the surge in cycling, she believes we must maximise our Olympic cycling legacy, harnessing opportunities cyclists can bring to our village.

Monica endorses the Lib Dem's climate change strategy, is campaigning for road safety and traffic pollution awareness and will support initiatives for 20mph zones and road calming in the village if backed by residents.

Monica is a Fellow of The Royal Photographic Society, an international photographic judge and is President of Bookham Camera Club. She enjoys pilates and walking.
